Norwich Philharmonic and Vaughan Williams' Five Tudor Portraits saved by Susanna

Following her last minute saving of a performance of the Five Tudor Portraits a couple of years ago in Woodstock when the advertised mezzo fell ill, SD member Susanna received a 24 hour emergency call again this autumn from Norwich Philharmonic's conductor David Dunnett.  Unfortunately the high platform and lack of steps meant she was unable to repeat her 'drunken' arrival up the aisle so memorably requested by Woodstock Music Society on the former occasion, but the Norwich performers were delighted to see her nevertheless, as she unquestionably saved the day.  The work is a very challenging one for choral societies and their orchestras, but great fun and well worth the effort.  Susanna commends it highly to any choirs who relish a challenge, and who might be reading this.

Singers Direct members are always happy to help out in a crisis if they can; if they are already busy, you can be sure they will know someone else who can step in and avert disaster.  So don't hesitate to get in touch with a Singers Direct member if one of your soloists goes ill.
